So I finally found an affordable watercolor paper block, made by Fluid. I love watercolor paper in blocks because I use a lot of water when I’m paining, but I hate soaking and stretching paper, so paper that is already stretched on a block is right up my alley. Until recently however, I only every could find watercolor blocks made by Arches, which always seemed far to expensive to use for experimenting.
Originally the idea was for this to be a kind of tiny diptych, but I forgot about that idea while I was blocking out the first colors, so that didn’t happen. I’ll probably try that concept again later. Then, while I was doing this I thought about making a series of trading cards of Chicago bike mechanics, or a series of Bird Wizards cards.
I am sort of trying to spend more time illustrating than sewing lately. We’ll see how that goes.
